Righthander Carmona has won three straight starts, holding the Rays to one unearned run on one hit over five innings in his last trip to the mound. Carmona faced the Yankees back on May 28, losing after surrendering four runs in his six innings of work.

NFL FOOTBALL
From The BetUS.com Locker Room
For those NFL football bettors itching for the 2010-2011 season to begin, BetUS.com Sportsbook has some intriguing Week 1 lines for the experienced bettor to take advantage of. NFL Football Season Week 1 Begins Thursday, September, 9, 2010.

NFL Betting Breakdown – NFC East
This is easily the NFL’s most rivalry-riddled division, with each team and their fan base hating on each other even more each time they play.

NFL Divisional Betting Breakdown – NFC North
The uncertainty of this division currently lies squarely on theshoulders of one Brett Favre, who for the umpteenth year in a row has decided to leave the fate of his football career to the very last minute, leaving the Minnesota Vikings and the NFC North Division in a state of flux.

Football Betting - NFC South
The New Orleans Saints are the pro football betting faves to win the NFC South this season but the underdog Atlanta Falcons can pose a serious threat to the defending Super Bowl champs. Or…can they?

Football Betting Odds - NFC West
Will the Arizona Cardinals switching starting quarterbacks from the now retired Kurt Warner to the hot tub, beer and breast loving Matt Leinart end the Cards' run as the kings of the NFC West?

NFL Betting Breakdown – AFC West
No AFC West team has won five consecutive division titles since the Oakland Raiders accomplished the feat from 1972-1976, but the San Diego Chargers will be going all out in 2010 as they try to tie Oakland's division record

NFL Betting - AFC East
It came as no surprise that the New England Patriots won the AFC East in the 2009 NFL betting season, but sudden rushes from within the division have painted Tom Brady in to a grizzly corner. They'll have to sweat the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.

Pro Football Odds - AFC South
The Colts are the bona fide favorites once again in the AFC South, and for good reason. QB Peyton Manning is still probably good for 4,000 yards and at least 25 touchdown passes, and when this offense is clicking, no one can stop it.

NFL Betting Breakdown AFC North
Thanks to the rise of the Cincinnati Bengals – along with the perennial excellence of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens – the AFC North turned out to be one of the most competitive divisions in the entire NFL betting last season.
NCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL
From The Bodog Beat
Sports Betting at the Sportsbook
Miami Hurricanes appears poised to take another big step forward in 2010.
The Miami Hurricanes have yet to even win a bowl game under fourth-year coach Randy Shannon, but there's no question this team is on the rise following last year's 9-4 record, UM's most wins since 2005. And if things bounce right, the Canes could not only be ACC contenders but also national title contenders this season

Notre Dame has a new football coach
When the Irish lost their final four games last season to finish 6-6, it was a foregone conclusion that Weis would be out. In is former Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly, who is charged with turning around a storied program that produced a combined 16-21 record the past three years.

FSU has gone to a bowl game for a record 28 years in a row.
It's a new era in Tallahassee as the Florida State Seminoles open the season without legendary coach Bobby Bowden on the sideline for the first time since 1975

2010 College Football Outlook: Coaching Changes
The 2010 college football outlook wouldn't be complete without examining some of this year's key coaching changes.

MMA News: Strikeforce Challengers Preview
While action is nearly at a stand still in the MMA world, sports betting fans can look forward to Friday's Strikeforce Challengers card for a humble offering of fights.

In the main event, Sarah Kaufman takes on Roxanne Modafferi for the Strikeforce Women's Welterweight Championship. Kaufman is undefeated, while Modafferi carries a two fight win-streak into the bout, her last victory coming over Tara LaRosa in May

Kaufman is the betting favorite heading into the bout, and with good reason. Not only does the Victoria, B.C. native possess solid skills, she's shown a remarkable sense of strategy and maturity for such a young fighter. I think she takes a solid decision win over Modafferi, although Kaufman could certainly get a stoppage here.

In other action on the card, Mike Kyle takes on Ron "Abongo" Humphry in a heavyweight tilt. Kyle has been on a hot streak as of late, winning seven of his last eight fights. Kyle remains haunted by his actions at WEC 20 in 2006, where he repeatedly attacked opponent Brian Olsen with illegal strikes. He continued his attack after the ref was pulling him off. After time off - thanks to some soul searching and a lengthy suspension, Kyle returned to the sport a humbled man. Since coming back he's looked good in a succession of fights against lower-level opposition. A win over Humphry could be what propels Kyle back up for another shot at the upper echcelons of the sport. Kyle has had his chances before - he is a veteran of the UFC, and lost to Fabricio Werdum on a Strikeforce undercard last year. He also holds a win over the next man to challenge King Mo, Rafael Feijao Cavalcante.

Strikeforce Challengers goes down Friday, July 23, from Comcast Arena in Everett, Washington.

NASCAR
Pennsylvania 500 Preview
The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will continue their pre-Chase schedule on Sunday in the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway. Jamie McMurray will be looking to make it two straight wins on Sunday, as he took the checkered flag on the weekend in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Kevin Harvick ended up in the second place at Indy, followed by Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart, Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, and Kurt Busch. Matt Kenseth was 12th at Indy, Denny Hamlin was 15th, Jimmie Johnson was 22nd, and Jeff Gordon ended up in 23rd place.

Harvick has a 184-point lead on Gordon in the driver standings after 20 races, with Hamlin, Johnson, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Burton, Kenseth, Stewart, Edwards, Biffle, and Bowyer also above the Chase cutoff line. Mark Martin is 13th in the standings, 62 points behind 12th-place Bowyer. Dale Earnhardt Jr. sits in 14th place, 93 points back of the final Chase spot.

Hamlin won the Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 at Pocono back in June, and he's also the defending Pennsylvania 500 champion. Hamlin swept the two Pocono races during the 2006 season as well. Gordon has four career Cup wins at Pocono, while Johnson, Stewart, Edwards, and Kurt Busch have two each. Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman have one Cup win apiece on the track.
ODDS and ENDS
March Madness Gets Even Madder by Charles Jay
It was perhaps inevitable that March Madness was going to expand a little, and that became official on Monday, as the NCAA announced that there will be four first-round games before the "main" draw of 65 teams starts. The field has now gone from 65 teams to 68, so bettors will have more action. Hooray!

Previously, there had been a "play-in" game attached to one of the regionals. This game generally featured the teams who would be the 64th and 65th "seeds" in the tournament, and always from smaller, lightly-regarded conferences. That will still stand, except there will not only be another game just like it, with two other teams from small conferences, but there will be two games that will pit the lowest-seeded at-large qualifiers against each other.

In effect, what we will be seeing here is four play-in games, one connected to each regional, that will take place before the rest of the tournament gets underway on Thursday and Friday. The winners of the games involving the lowest-seeded teams will play the #1 seed in each region....... Read More at BetUS Sports Locker Room
